Jordan’s unelected government was unhappy with growing powerful PF. At the beginning, PF founders filed registration with Ministry of Interior, so they were known to the governmental agencies, who started serious harassment against them, causing PF to conceal the names of its members thereby keeping them away from official harassment. |
| Illegitimate Laws | |||||||||
Violating the
international law of human rights, the unelected government legislated
restrictions against PF and included the restrictions in 2007 Law of
Political Parties. |
| PF Official Establishment | |||||||||
105 Jordanians including
53 women accepted Alzubi’s suggestion for establishing PF and presented
its file to the Ministry of Interior. |
| The Crisis | |||||||||
The political crisis in Jordan became exacerbated between Party of the Free and the government because of its increasing abuse crimes committed against persons and property, the Party's opposition in the issues of tyranny, corruption, huge violations of human rights, demanding freedom and justice for all, and calling for elected government and clean elections. |

Among stolen documents: ( Exhibits 1-8 documents of his private property) ( Exhibit 9 Ahmed Alzubi Hashemi Genealogical Tree) ( Exhibit 10 Alzubi tribe) (and Exhibit 11 Statement of the Party of the Free). |

In a planned conspiracy
within the scope of official harassment against PF, three aggressors
trespassed Alzubi Center for Computers and Internet midnight on October
24, 2008, hit tables and computers, and deeply wounded Adnan Alzubi's
hand, then police Major ordered policemen to arrest Adnan! district

Forcing out PF President, seizing his
lands, harassing his sons and Party of the Free |
The Jordanian government continues to prevent PF President Ahmed Alzubi from return to Jordan and disposition of his property in Sama Sdood, they also prevent his children from accessing his seized house and land, looted its documents, in addition to that it continues to intervene in the affairs of the Party of the Free. |
| Solidarity Contacts with PF | |||||||||
The aggressions of the government were denounced by different Jordanian people, circles who hated injustice, tyranny, and who want triumph of the right and dignity of the human person. |
| "Jordan" Newspaper | |||||||||
Party of the Free receives further solidarity contacts and messages from within and outside Jordan. The press published articles and comments on the crisis between the government and Party of the Free. In its issue in Amman on April 2, 2007, "Jordan" newspaper talked about the crisis and popular protests against government seizure of Alzubi lands (Exhibit 12 Jordan newspaper article April 2, 2007). |
| "Arab Times" Newspaper, Houston, Texas | |||||||||
The American Newspaper (Arab Times) issued in Houston, Texas on April 21, 2007 published harsh criticism of the king because of the acquisition of Alzubi lands ( Exhibit 13 Arab Times newspaper article April 21, 2007). |
Letter of Ahmed Alzubi to King Abdullah Amman, February 3, 2008 |
In an attempt to remedy the situation with wisdom and peaceful means Ahmed Alzubi sent to King Abdullah a letter asking him to comply with international treaties and declare that he approved his return to Jordan, return his property, prevent the Intelligence from calling him or harassing his sons and prevent it from interfering in the affairs of the Party of the Free. The message reads as follows: "I would like you to order the government and its departments - including police, intelligence and the Department of Lands and Surveys to stop harassment against Ahmed Alzubi and his sons, declare the approval of his return to Jordan, return back his private property, the looted documents which the government hid its original records and changed them, and changed the names of its locations and maps, so offensive use of its military, administrative and judicial including the forces of Al-Badia, the army, intelligence service, Department of Lands and Survey and the settlement court of land." |
| Alzubi Hometown Sama Sdood is Older than the Emirate of TransJordan | |||||||||
1- Sama Sdood is older than the Emirate of TransJordan and it is hometown of Ahmed Alzubi, and it is the hometown of his father Shiekh Abdul Karim, his grandfather Ali, his great grandfather Taha and his Hashemite grandfathers prior to the arrival of Prince Abdullah from Hijaz and before the establishment of the Emirate of TransJordan, also before the demarcation of the border with Syria and before the government seized it and the resettlement of Al-Badia Sarhan soldiers and changing its historical name Sama Sdood to Sama Al Sarhan! The area of Alzubi lands in Sama Sdood is 16 thousand dunums of land in addition to houses, wells and dams. In 1850 my great grandfather Alhaj Taha Alzubi lived in his house in Sama Sdood and had very vast lands. My grandfather Alhaj Ali Al-Taha Alzubi also lived on the lands, he had a personal identification card to travel that was issued by the Al-Badia Leadership that dominated the border area. Also, my grandfather Alhaj Ali Al-Taha and my father Shiekh Abdul Karim kept the lands, guesswork documents, and the taxes receipts, which were paid in 1945 to the department of finance of the Emirate of Transjordan at that time. In 1969, my father bought the property of 12 people of Sama Sdood. In addition to that, Ahmed Alzubi stayed there, used the lands and hired workers until the time of confiscation, the land is now registered partially to the government and its departments, and part of it registered to others. |
| We are the owners of this country | |||||||||
It is important to mention here that the father of Ahmed Alzubi (Sheikh Abdul Karim Alali Alzubi, God's mercy on him) was well-known for eloquent arguments. He said to Education Minister Mohammad Alshanketi : You are from Mauritania and became minister and Prince Abdullah From Hijaz and became king, and I am from Jordan and we are the owners of this land and can not I be a teacher? The Minster replied I am unable to answer and issued a decision to appoint Sheikh Abdul Karim Alali Alzubi as a teacher in the Education Ministry. |

Jordan’s active political parties |
IN RESPONSE to your article “Jordan enters new Millennium with most political parties “clinically dead” (J.T., Dec 23-24) I would like to point out that 23 political parties are active and most have joined the Council of National Parties headed by Dr.Ahmed Alzubi, president of the Liberal Party Alahrar, and the Committee for Coordination Among Opposition Parties headed by Dr. Abdul Latif Arabiyat, secretary general of the Islamic Action Front. No Jordanian political party is in government, all are in opposition. The Council of National Parties aims at forming a cabinet to apply its centrist moderate programme. Political party culture in Jordan is very rich and varied, its components are the principles, statues and programmes of the the Jordanian political parties. We are witnessing the continuation of a process of enrichment of the political debate that results in the establishment of the two groups of political parties : “The Council of National Parties” and “ The Committee for Coordination Among Opposition Parties. ” Jordanian political parties are political institutions with programmes and regulations. In case of the absence of the party’s leader, the party elects another leader and continues its mission. We see it as healthy to have many political parties with constructive ideas. It is like having many schools and many flowers. The Liberal Party was founded in 1994 as the organization of Jordan Liberal, Democrat and Reform party. At that time its prime task was to promote the peace process in the Middle East on all tracks. The Liberal Party president and delegation met President Weizman, Israeli leaders and heads of Arab states. Delegations of the party visited Asian countries, the U.S., Europe and the Far East; party activities included lectures, meetings, seminars and contacts with the King, the Cabinet, the Parliament, civil society organizations, participation in the North Africa and Middle East Economic Summit, the Liberal International Congress, the General Assembly of the IFLRY and Arab-Israeli Dialogue in Turkey. The Liberal Party represents the widest sector of intellectuals and popular class and the party’s platform calls for the promotion of democracy, international cooperation, the promotion of human rights and a free economy. |
Alahrar believe in the rule of law, an independent judiciary to protect it, an active and freely elected parliament to enact laws, an accountable, freely elected government to carry them through, a free media, and meaningful human rights, including foremost the freedom of expression. |
| PF True Democracy | |||||||||
| PF affirms: | |||||||||
| Ending Job Discrimination. | |||||||||
PF shall end
discrimination and unequal access to government jobs, universities,
police, armed forces, education and social services. The free Alahrar also strongly oppose discrimination against people on the basis of physical or mental disability. |
| Freedom of the Press and Information: | |||||||||
Democracy depends not just on unfettered minds, but also on an informed electorate. Only free media - whether print, broadcast, or electronic - can ensure that citizens have access to the information that they need to make political decisions. Current government controls information, limit press freedom, and usually preordain elections, stunt civil society, and manipulate the judiciary. |
| The free development of political parties: | |||||||||
Democratic institutions offer the best assurance of respect for human rights as well as the best chance to improve the lives of average citizens. History has taught that freedom - economic, political, and religious freedom - unlocks a higher fraction of the human potential than any other way of organizing society. It is confirmed that democratic governance, human rights, and religious and labor freedom remain inextricably intertwined with prosperity and security. |
| The Right to Democracy | |||||||||
All human beings are free and equal in dignity and rights. the right to democracy provides that the will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government, expressed in periodic and genuine elections, Present government continues to deny the citizens right to choose their own government, rulers speak of democracy even as they rig elections, suppress dissent, and shackle the press. |
| Developments in Democracy | |||||||||
| PF shall conduct successful free and fair elections. | |||||||||
| Ending abuse of women's human rights. | |||||||||
PF shall not allow crimes against women and girls - and truly, against all of humanity. PF shall make it unmistakably clear that terrible suffering inflicted on the women and girls is not cultural, it is criminal. And will do everything we can to stop it. |
| Religious Freedom: | |||||||||
Violence violates Koranic strictures on principles of tolerance in Islam and comes at the expense of historically strong relations between the Christians and Muslim communities. Article 18 of the Universal Declaration protects everyone's "right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion; this right includes freedom to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance." By so saying, the Declaration recognizes that religious freedom is both a universally recognized human right and an essential component of democratic culture. |
| Developments in Democracy: | |||||||||
| The Rule of Law | |||||||||
Democratic institutions and officials are guided by and constrained by
the law - that is to say, a government accountable to, not above the
law. They have a fair and efficient legal system led by an independent and professionally competent judiciary that acts as final arbiter of the law. A strong rule of law helps to assure sustainable economic development, to combat corruption, to support social stability and peace, and to carve out necessary space for individual political and economic activity. It also provides the average citizen with confidence that he or she has access to a mechanism to hold leaders and institutions accountable - in both the public and private sectors. Absent an independent judiciary and the rule of law, the country simply lacks mechanisms to ensure that laws and procedures protect universal human rights. Present government confuses the existence of laws with the rule of law. In too many countries the rule of law has been warped to fit the whims of a tiny ruling elite. In others, well-intentioned laws have become paper fictions, providing cover for corrupt politicians and criminals. Current government legislated restrictions on free speech, free press, and other key rights in the name of the rule of law. For the rule of law to be truly effective, the legal system must be independent and in conformity with universal human rights principles. |
Developments in Labor |
Worker Rights. Promoting core labor standards, including freedom of association, the right to organize and bargain. |
| PF History | |||||||||
At the start of the 2009, the Party of the free can look back on a proud history - a history not just of a political organization but of a national vision. It is a vision based on the strength and power of theasaudy of economically empowered, socially diverse and politically active Jordanians. Our Party's founders decided that wealth and social status were not an entitlement to rule. They believed that wisdom and compassion could be found within every individual and a stable government must be built upon a broad popular base. |
Recent issue stances |
